First a quick guide of the major choices:
The Most Popular Option for workers in demanding heat environments
- Climate: Any humidity, any temperature
- Activity: Any that requires being active and mobile. Access to a freezer is not required, with 58 degree phase change packs a cooler of ice water will charge the packs.
Cooling Pack Based Garments
Least Expensive Option and limited environmental fit; However, in the right climate it is very effective and lightweight!
- Climate: Low humidity climate, not recommended for high humidity climates. Also excellent when a source of cool water is readily available for re soaking.
- Activity: Any activity where a little dampness is OK. Garment must be exposed to the environment.
Water activated cooling garments
High end cooling, very efficient, lightweight, expensive and with limited mobility
- Climate: Any humidity, any temperature
- Activity: When working in very hot environments and efficient long-lasting cooling is required. The person must be relatively stationary in one place. Works well at fixed workstations, on fork lift or other vehicle seats (with a battery pack).
