"I purchased a Kool Max Torso Vest and it is working soooooo good. I am an amputee, and this is keeping my body temperature stable to help with my blood pressure. The torso vest has been a God send." - Darlene in Ephrata, PA
Heat-Related Issues with Amputation:According to researchers at the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs, "Thermal comfort remains a common problem for people with lower-limb amputation. Both donning a prosthesis and engaging in activity at room temperature can increase residual limb skin temperature.” In their study titled: Residual limb skin temperature and thermal comfort in people with amputation during activity in a cold environment, researched noted that "these elevated skin temperatures negatively affect quality of life for individuals with amputation, with more than 53 percent reporting discomfort from heat and/or perspiration inside their prosthetic socket in 38 reviewed studies.” Source: Journal of Journal of Rehabilitation Research & Development, U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs
