What is the different between Banox™ and Nomex™? 

  • Banox™ is flame retardant treated cotton. The treatment is good for 20-25 washes and then the resistance to fire is significantly diminished. This fabric is heavier than Nomex™ and is more durable than Nomex™. 
  • Nomex™ is a fabric that is treated by a single step flame retarding process that will last the life of the garment and does not reduce the wear life of the fabric. The Nomex™ is roughly 60% of the weight of the Banox™ and is a bit less durable fabric. 
Please note: while these fabrics are class 1 NFPA 70E rated, there is exposure to potential arc flash and the user should not depend on a cooling vest for protection.

1. ADJUSTABLE, CUSTOM FIT
It is important for cooling vests to fit snug to the body for optimal cooling. This cooling vest has adjustable hook and loop straps at the chest, waist and shoulders for a snug, comfortable and customized fit.

2. CONVENIENT AND EASY TO WEAR
Once the cooling vest has been adjusted for size, it is easy to put on every time with the zipper-pull front. The clean design (with no logos or visible pack pockets!) is available in several sizes. Wear the vest over clothing or discreetly underneath.

3. BANOX™ TREATED COTTON
The vest is constructed of durable and machine washable Banoxâ„¢ fire retardant treated cotton. (Please note: The treatment is good for 20-25 washes and then the resistance to fire is diminished.) NFPA 70E Rated. CAUTION: If there is exposure to potential arc flash the user should not depend on a cooling vest for protection.


4. YOUR CHOICE OF COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Choose between our best selling Kool Max® frozen water-based cooling packs or our Cool58® phase change packs! Kool Max® packs require access to a freezer and offer the highest level of cooling energy, while Cool58® cooling packs freeze solid at a moderate and comfortable temperature of 58° Fahrenheit, so they can be activated in a freezer, refrigerator, or even a bucket of ice water. 5. INSULATED PACK POCKETS
Packs fit into insulated pockets inside the cooling vest. The pockets have a comfortable all-cotton fabric to protect the skin and an insulated outer composite fabric to direct the cooling energy toward the body. Temperature may also be adjusted for comfort by increasing or decreasing the number of clothing layers beneath the vest or the number of packs used.

Four Kool Max 6 x 15 inch cooling strip packsHow do Kool Max® water-based cooling packs work? 

  • Kool Max® frozen water-based cooling packs require access to a freezer and offer the highest level of cooling energy. It takes more energy to charge these packs in a freezer and in return, the packs offer greater cooling energy than Cool58® cooling packs. 
  • These reusable packs deliver comfortable cooling for up to 3-4 hours. (Please note: cooling times are estimates and will vary depending on climate, body metabolism and activity.)
  • Packs are non-toxic and non-flammable.
  • Works in any climate - extreme heat and humidity are no problem! The cooling performance is not impacted by humidity or outside temperature.

Four Cool58 phase change cooling packsHow do Cool58® phase change cooling packs work? 

  • Cool58® cooling packs freeze solid at a moderate and comfortable temperature of 58° Fahrenheit (14.4° Celsius), so they can be frozen in a freezer, refrigerator, or even a bucket of ice water. 
  • Once activated, these reusable packs deliver comfortable cooling for up to 2-3 hours. (Please note: cooling times are estimates and will vary depending on climate, body metabolism and activity.)
  • Packs are non-toxic and non-flammable.
  • Packs do not require a freezer! Packs can simply be submerged in ice water or placed in a refrigerator or freezer to activate. Easy to use - packs can be activated by simply submerging the packs into ice water for up to 20 minutes when access to freezers is not available.
  • Works in any climate - extreme heat and humidity are no problem! The cooling performance is not impacted by humidity or outside temperature.
 
  • One (1) fire-resistant vest made with Banox™
    • The vest is made with Banox™ fire retardant treated cotton.
      • Please note: The treatment is good for 20-25 washes and then the resistance to fire is diminished.
    • NFPA 70E Rated. CAUTION: If there is exposure to potential arc flash the user should not depend on a cooling vest for protection.
    • Size is adjustable with hook and loop closures at the chest and waist fora snug, comfortable and customized fit.

How to find your size:

This vest is adjustable at the shoulders, chest and waist. Therefore, it will fit a wide range of body types. These measurements may help determine the best size for you.
  • To measure the chest and waist circumference: First, wrap a soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest and under your armpits, making sure to keep the tape parallel to the ground. This determines your chest measurement. Then wrap a measuring tape around your natural waistline (usually across your belly button), making sure to keep the tape parallel to the ground. See where the larger of the two measurements fall on the size chart.Please note: The vest circumference is independently adjustable at the chest and waist with hook and loop strap closures. if you think you are in between two sizes, order the next size up to accommodate the cooling packs.
  • To measure the vest length: Hold the tape measure at the highest point of your shoulder. Look straight ahead and pull it down to your natural waist. Mark this measurement on the tape measure with your thumb. Please note: The vest length can be adjusted at the shoulders. When in doubt, order the next size up to accommodate the cooling packs and to prevent the vest from looking too short.

Details: Bought this for my husband who works in the oilfeilds. He calls me daily to tell me how awesome I am because I bought this cooling vest for him. Oklahoma heat with no a/c is brutal so this is a PERFECT solution. The [Cool58] gel packs are amazing , he just fills the cooler with ice and 20 minutes later they are frozen solid. Less than a dollar a day for ice at a truck stop and he is cool and comfortable. I'm thinking of buying one for myself, because I'm jealous.
