"Great product"

Details: What a great product. My wife had a foot operation and needed to ice it a lot to keep the swelling down. It is a pain to keep freezing gel packs. This eliminates that. Freeze a few water bottles, put them in the ice chest with water and you are good to go. I rated it a 5 but it's clearly a 10 for us.

"Cooling But No Air Compression"

on 10/31/2022 9:52:22 AM

Details: This product does a great job of providing cold therapy to the body but does not provide air compression. If you are looking for something to deliver cold therapy, this is your product. If you are looking for something to deliver cold therapy and air compression simultaneously, this isn't it.

"A Superior Product Made In America"

Details: I purchased the polar unit with the foot therapy pad, but my doctor said that I wouldn’t feel the cold because she is putting a partial cast on the foot. She said instead to get a "bladder.” I showed her all the therapy pads available from your company and she selected the one I just ordered this morning. Thank goodness. I don’t know how I’d get through recovery without my Polar cooling machine.

I put the Polar through a test run (my surgery is scheduled for 11/14) and am very impressed with how quiet the unit is and how sturdy and well made the foot therapy pad is. I was particularly impressed when I called your customer service line and was greeted by a real live person, and she was such a gracious and helpful lady. Thank you so much for making such a superior product, and for making it in the US!

"Very cold, but not always comfortable"

Details: I purchased the foot cold therapy system after I had surgery to repair a broken heel on my left foot. For anyone who is planning to have this same surgery, I'd caution that you may not be able to use this system until after your post-surgery splint and heavy wrap are removed. I can only get my foot in the therapy boot with a light ankle wrap and a thin sock to protect my toes. The people at Polar Products had warned me about the opening of the boot, so they seem aware of this also. However, this seemed to be the only product of theirs that would work for a heel surgery, as I needed cooling underneath my foot as well as on the sides. The system works great, as described. I freeze water bottles and use those in the cooler, and the system stays cold for many hours. However, I've been confined to bedrest, and my foot must be elevated above my heart, so the cooler is on the floor next to my bed, and my foot is propped up by pillows on the bed. Post-surgery, I've dealt with severe nerve pain that's not only in my foot (concentrated on the left side, where the incision is) but also in my ankle and up the outer part of my leg. This is the same side as the hose for the cooling system. The weight of the hose, when it's flowing, caused extra nerve pain, and I had to go back to using ice packs, at times. I also tried switching to the other side of the bed and sleeping with my injured foot on the inside, but it was unpleasant to sleep with the cold hose against my other leg. Overall, it's been difficult to find a way to sleep that doesn't cause additional pain or discomfort. The system does work well, as they claim, but I don't feel the design has been optimized for someone with a broken heel. It seems the type of pain I'm experiencing hasn't been considered. For reference, I'm writing this review 5 weeks post-surgery. This system would not have been usable for me during the first 2 weeks after surgery, as my foot wouldn't have fit in the system. In the 3 - 5 weeks after surgery, I've been able to use it 60-70% of the time, when the nerve pain is bearable. To anyone having this surgery, I'd consider these factors before purchasing.

"A+ Product & Customer Service"

Details: This product and all the accessories I bought (b/c I did not know what to buy!) are exception and have truly helped me as I recover from 3 surgery procedures at one time on one foot. Digital timer is EXCELLENT. Small compact. Very quiet operation. The only concern I had (past tense) was the foot bladder seemed to leak a bit. Called customer service. Not only are they sending a replacement, but also gave me a quick tip on how to cut/make the foot bladder more effective!

Details: I am having major foot surgery on March 1st and asked my doctor if I can bring the foot bladder with me. I know from experience of my son’s foot surgery that you want the bladder under the layers of ace bandages to be most effective. I did this for a hand surgery and my recovery time was remarkable. I have had many surgeries, feet, back, hand and hip and using the Polar Ice machine gives me added comfort to speed my recovery each time. I put a thick wash cloth under the motor to make it quieter when using. Be sure to follow the maintenance of cleaning and drying the hose and bladder after use to preserve its life.

"Working well!"

Details: I just had a bunion removal this morning. I bought the regular size boot. I wear a size 9-1/2 shoe, and can fit my foot into boot just fine with bandage wrap and sock. It has worked great all day! A little trick from a friend: freeze 4 water bottles, and use two at a time in the cooler with water. Change out as needed. No messy fuss with ice cubes.

"Great for the Foot"

on 8/8/2017 10:53:42 AM

Empty Star Empty Star Empty Star Empty Star Empty Star

Details: I bought this with the entire system for icing my foot after foot surgery (bunionectomy, big toe fusion, and second metatarsal remodeling). I was concerned that the universal bladder wouldn't work well for the foot. While I haven't tried the universal bladder for my foot, this bladder does work well for the toe region of the foot and I believe would be stellar for the ankle portion (even more so). I bought the large but didn't really need it - it is a little big for my purpose but oh well. The entire system has been a life saver and my doctor says I am well past 90% of patients at this stage in terms of healing - that my foot is doing exceptionally well. I have posted another review of the system and I will echo it here: if you are an athletic family, you NEED to get an icing machine and this one certainly fits the bill. Nobody likes to ice, especially teenagers, but this system makes it easy to do so and the benefits are unquestioned in the athletic training community.
