"My doctor has given me a prescription for a cooling garment. Do I need a prescription to order a Polar cooling vest?”

Polar Products does not require a prescription when you purchase a cooling garment from us directly, and we do not bill insurance companies or Medicare. Contact your insurance provider prior to placing your order to request that they provide reimbursement to you once you’ve ordered your cooling vest; their policies may vary. We will be happy to include an itemized, priced receipt with your order.

Ask your physician to give you a prescription (or "Letter of Medical Necessity”) and then send a request for coverage to your insurance provider. MScooling.info is a resource site which has provided sample letters, which may be helpful:

"I have MS and need financial assistance with purchasing a cooling vest. Can you help me?”

There are a number of non-profit organizations with cooling programs to provide Polar cooling vests to those in need of financial assistance.

The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA)has an excellent cooling program to help people with MS nationwide who qualify for financial assistance. Contact them at 1-800-532-7667 or download an application at: http://www.msassociation.org/ programs/cooling/. When you fill out the application, be sure to select one of our best-selling Kool Max Vests (Option A or C). Either style may be worn over or under clothing and work great in any climate. These vests include an extra set of cooling packs and offer the greatest flexibility in weight and cooling power.

There are also several regional non-profits with outstanding cooling programs:

If you do not meet the requirements for these programs or need immediate assistance, please call us and we will try to help.
