The Emergency First Responder Rehab Cooling Unit is quick to set up and may be used anywhere First Responders are exposed to intense heat or are at risk for heat fatigue and heat-related illness. The cooling rehab system circulates ice cold water from a cooling reservoir to 1 to 6 lightweight individual cooling vests. This effective system cools responders during breaks or after action significantly faster than they can regulate an elevated core temperature on their own.

Details: The Polar 6 person rehab unit has performed very well and we are purchasing a second unit this year. We use these after large incidents where our firefighters are in their turnout gear or other restrictive ppe and need to go through rehab. Feedback from using them has been good with our largest problem is we have more personnel that need rehab than we have cooling vests.

Location: Henderson Fire Department
