"Excellent Therapy System for Shoulders"
George L. on 6/21/2014 12:30:39 PM
Details: The Active Ice Therapy System has worked well for cooling the shoulder after exercises for shoulder surgery. Save yourself a lot of extra work and don't use bags of ice. Freeze a container of water to create a block if ice to sit in the water (leave ice inside of container). Freeze several containers and switch them as needed. The ice will last all day. The shoulder wrap is nice to have, it covers both sides of the shoulder and the side of the arm. You may need help putting the wrap on at first,... More details

"Best for reducing swelling!"
Gregory Long on 6/20/2014 12:04:23 PM
Details: I truly think this is one of the best pieces of equipment for reducing swelling I have ever used. Thanks for the invention. I had shoulder surgery and my doctor use to rent these pieces of equipment in effort to reduce pain and swelling. A couple years later my spouse had knee replacement and so I purchased this piece equipment and she received incredible relief, that ice could not. I recently suffered a whip lash type of back injury and this device was superior in the length of time it took to ... More details

"a true bonus in my recovery"
Linda Nelson on 5/19/2014 4:37:11 PM
Details: I purchased the larger unit with wheels/handle for my post knee replacement surgery recovery in May 2014. I had my first knee replaced about 1.5 years ago and didn't have a ice therapy unit at that time. This unit has been a true bonus in my recovery, also saved wear and tear on my husband from filling ice packs which he did approximately 10+ time per day for 3+ weeks when I had my first surgery. Pro: if using for a knee, buy the compression pad in addition to the pad that comes with the unit. T... More details

Details: I purchased the System for use after total knee replacement surgery. The unit arrived before the surgery and we brought it to the hospital for post-surgical use. The relief provided was immediate and beneficial. PROs: Easy set up; extended length hose very useful; timer; coldness adjustment; larger capacity chest for more ice; easy-to-use connectors. CONs: somewhat noisy - although putting a folded towel under unit reduces noise (noise also acts as "white noise" to offset hospital nighttime nois... More details

Details: We recently ordered the Active Ice Therapy System from Polar Products and could not be more disappointed. The product operated for only about 3 hours before leak occurred from somewhere in the pump housing. We were told that these machines have been tested and engineered for years of use (multiple uses per day). Note from Polar: Hi Dustin. We are so sorry to hear about this issue and apologize for the inconvenience! Our systems are tested in our factory and they absolutely should last for years ... More details

Details: System is great. I ended up buying the back pad and the Y connection along with the system and the knee pad. I was able to ice my replaced knee and the soreness in my leg at the same time and then both knees at the same time. Other knee is being replaced in December. The ONLY BAD thing is the velcro holder for the knee pad. The velcro quit working a week after using it a few times every day. I did not buy it for the back pad which again I used for wrapping it around my upper leg. I found an ACE ... More details

Terri Helus on 10/11/2013 5:00:05 PM
Details: My husband had knee surgery and in subsequent visits to the physical therapist greatly benefited from sessions with their ice therapy system. Home solutions like ice bags or freezer gel packs did not yield the same results and relief. Internet research led us to the Polar Products Active Ice System. Details: I used a coworkers therapy system before I ordered my own and boy I was really disappointed when the package arrived. I ordered the exact system that she loaned me but mine came with timer (didn't order one with a timer) and less hose length than what was advertised. I contacted customer service and was given some lame excuse about the model I expected was "discontinued 6 months ago", which is odd because my co-worker ordered hers less than 6 months ago. Details: I bought my unit 4 years ago to help me through a series of knee surgeries. It has been excellent. The pump stopped working once and polarproducts sent me replacement for free which was easy to switch out. A month ago I bought one for my mother who recently had a partial knee replacement surgery. This is a high value product that I would recommend to anyone with joint pain or swelling.

Anthony Cicco on 7/30/2013 7:45:13 AM
Details: I am 7 days past my knee replacement and the Active Ice systems has played an important part in my recovery. It provides cool therapy to the affected areas. I can't imagine trying to ice my knee any other way. The setup is the standard cooler with the 9 foot hose and the knee bladder. I would recommend the 9 foot hose. The added length allows various positions for use in chairs, beds, etc.

Details: As an ice machine, it is quite effective. The problem is in the quality. The connection between the power cord and the mechanism is a bit loose and has to be positioned just right to work. Otherwise, it's okay.

Details: This little machine has been a life saver after my rotator cuff surgery. My only complaint is that the hose on the bladder is too short, therefore i am unable to hook it up myself. You must have someone help you connect and disconnect the hoses. This could be a safety design, but i would have preferred a longer hose.

Lawrence McCrone on 12/28/2012 7:48:22 PM
Details: I've been using this system for two weeks following total knee replacement. It's much more convenient than using ice packs. My only complaint is that the universal bladder is not large enough to totally surround my knee, so I end up applying a conventional ice pack on the underside of my knee as a supplement to the active ice system. The knee compression straps are essential to hold both the bladder and the ice pack to my knee area. It is very soothing.

"A MUST HAVE when recovering"
James Logan on 11/22/2012 9:47:10 AM
Details: I have used this product 3 times during knee therapy. When I had my knee replaced I purchased a unit. It is convenient when there is no help around, I use it to control swelling, but also mitigate mild pain between medication. There is some difficulty with emptying the melted ice water without help. A built in tap would alleviate having to move it every time.

Although the hospitals system only needs distilled water added, I do not mind adding ice and water to my home system, because it works so great and was a great price.
