Universal Therapy Bladder Features:

U-Shaped Bladder



Ideal for knees, shoulder, back, ankles, elbows, calves and limbs.
Rectangular Bladder



Ideal for full coverage of the back.
Foot-shaped Bladder



Fits like a sock with full circulating water coverage of the foot. Can be used on the left foot or the right foot (This bladder choice is an additional charge.)


You may also choose to order more than one therapy bladder! Two (2) universal bladders with a Y-shaped Hose Connector(#AISY) are ideal for surgeries like a double knee replacement.




Optional Compression Wrap Features:
  • Holds the bladder comfortably in place on the targeted body part.
  • Insulates the target area and control condensation.
  • Provides a gentle, adjustable compression.
  • Conveniently attaches to the Universal U-Shaped Bladder(#UB) with hook and loop tabs. Please note: The compression wraps are not compatible with the Universal Rectangular Bladder (#RB).

Drain Accessory allows most of the water to be pumped from the cooler to a drain without lifting the cooler. Clips to the lid when not in use. (Included with 15-quart cooler.)

  • The Active Ice® System can be cold enough to seriously injure the skin.
  • Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use. Provide a complete medical history, specifically any reactions to the cold.
  • Certain medical conditions may be more susceptible to cold-related injuries. Ask your practitioner about any potential adverse reactions. Caution: use of cold therapy by children, diabetics, incapacitated patients, and those with poor circulation or special skin conditions should be carefully supervised by a medical professional.
  • Use only as prescribed by a licensed healthcare practitioner and follow all of his or her instructions regarding the frequency and duration of cold therapy, proper temperature, how and when to check the skin, and length of treatment.
  • Completely read and follow all included Operation Instructions, Warnings, and Cautions before using the Active Ice® System.

Polar Products Inc. warrants that this product is free from defects in workmanship, materials and fitness for use for 6 months from initial purchase under normal use for which it was intended. Polar's obligation under this warranty is limited to the replacement or repair of any defective part(s) of this product. If you have a problem with your Active Ice® System, please call our Customer Service at 1-800-763-8423 to obtain a Returned Goods Authorization number (RGA#).

Please note: health regulations prohibit us from accepting returns on cold therapy systems unless there is a problem with its operation (as covered by the warranty.) If the unit is within its 180 day warranty period, it will be repaired or replaced with a new unit at no charge.

Details: As an ice machine, it is quite effective. The problem is in the quality. The connection between the power cord and the mechanism is a bit loose and has to be positioned just right to work. Otherwise, it's okay.

Details: I purchased the Active Ice® Therapy System for my husband whom had total knee replacement. The system has been wonderful for reducing swelling. I especally like the timer because it assures that he doesn't leave the pack on to long.

Details: This little machine has been a life saver after my rotator cuff surgery. My only complaint is that the hose on the bladder is too short, therefore i am unable to hook it up myself. You must have someone help you connect and disconnect the hoses. This could be a safety design, but i would have preferred a longer hose.

Details: Works good. The pump goes from quiet to very loud for no apparent reason and then it stays loud. I cannot be in the same room with wife and kids because of the distracting noise. I called Polar and they responded that, yes, it is loud.

Details: I've been using this system for two weeks following total knee replacement. It's much more convenient than using ice packs. My only complaint is that the universal bladder is not large enough to totally surround my knee, so I end up applying a conventional ice pack on the underside of my knee as a supplement to the active ice system. The knee compression straps are essential to hold both the bladder and the ice pack to my knee area. It is very soothing.

"A MUST HAVE when recovering"

Details: I have used this product 3 times during knee therapy. When I had my knee replaced I purchased a unit. It is convenient when there is no help around, I use it to control swelling, but also mitigate mild pain between medication. There is some difficulty with emptying the melted ice water without help. A built in tap would alleviate having to move it every time.
